CHILDLINE 1098 is a National toll free 24-hour emergency phone outreach service for children in need of care and protection that aims to link children for long term services.

Every child in the society should have effective health care, free and qualitative education and affection and love. But in our society many children are of deprived of these rights. Rather they are being engaged as child labour in hazardous work. ADARSA is actively involved in addressing these issues both at macro and micro level. In the last year a number of activities and actions were carried out for addressing the issues of child rights.

Qualification/ Education: 4th standard

Distress situation/circumstances:  By force from her mother child continuing beggaring in Bhatli Chowk/Market area last 2-3 months. Child was fear position & thought in mind that for her daily expenses, she maintain/collect herself. She misbehaved by her father whenever she approached she wants to study because of her father is drunker with always out of mind & sit in her house only.

Imapact on Child: Child always wears school uniform dress, even though in the time of beggaring. Child lost her identity with faith.

She couldn’t attend school regularly.

Contact with CHILDLINE

By telephonic call from Bhatli Chowk from Miss Ranjita Sahoo, Social Worker of SJPU, Delhi CHILDLINE, Sambalpur received female child beggar case intervention on 16/12/12 at 03.02 PM with the handed over written application.

CHILDLINE intervention:

After received we went to her home and counseling by CHLIDLINE team to her mother & child, we came to know that child mother is daily laborer & father do not going to work & all the personal expenses depends on his wife. Child has one brother; he is going to school regularly. Sabitri Bhue thought that girl will go to other home but boy will stay in her home. So for touch minimum finance condition she was sending child to market area for beggaring. Child was very much interested to study. Mother counseled by CHILDLINE & Ward Member from local area & agreed send to school. Child mother given undertaking application to Police Station, Bhatli & CHILDLINE that she never force to her 2 child. We contacted to Head Master Bhatli UP school, Bhatli with the presence of Ward Meber & Head Master told d us that child’s name already in admission file & he took responsible for this child.With the consulted from CWC, Bargarh we restored to her parents.


CHILDLINE team followed to Head Master, Bhatli UP School & Ward Member on 26/12/12 and also called to Ward Member for child’s continuing study in school on 02/01/13 & 09/01/13. Finally we got that child’s mother has been sending to school his child from 18/12/12.

Key Achievements

  • 158 nos of various case interventions have done in childline. 350 nos of calls received in 1098 based on child care and protection.
  • Childline Advisory Board (CAB) had formed with District Government Allied System and the chairperson in CAB, District Collector, and Sambalpur.
  • 13 nos of children club has formed in Sambalpur District.
  • Child Labour survey conducted in 5 nos slum area in Sambalpur town.
